Forward Trajectory Forecast
This web site is to be used for real-time stratospheric intrusion forecasting. The background basemap is the daily AIRS, IASI, or CrIS Dual Regression Ozone retrievals at 516mb, which is used in conjunction with Dual Regression dewpoint temperature retrievals to initialize trajectories which show where the stratospheric intrusion (high ozone/dry air) is expected to move in the next approximately 48 hours. The products are derived from AIRS, IASI and CrIS data acquired and processed directly from the Terra, METEOP-A, and SNPP satellites, respectively.
The objective of IDEA-I is an open source, portable version of Infusing satellite Data into Environmental air quality Applications (IDEA) [Al-Saadi, et al., 2005] a satellite based aerosol forecasting, visualization, and data synthesis tool for use by the international air quality forecasting community. IDEA-I supports the Global Earth Observation Systems of Systems (GEOSS) Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Health Societal Benefit Area (SBA) and has been developed within the framework of the GEO Earth Observations in Decision Support Call for Proposals.
